Job title
Gastroenterologist – lead the delivery of expert care in diagnosing and managing digestive system disorders. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in performing endoscopic procedures and managing conditions affecting the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary systems. The role includes contributing to the expansion of specialized GI services and maintaining the highest standards of patient care in line with national and institutional guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of patients with GI symptoms and disorders
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, EMR, and capsule endoscopy
- Diagnose and treat GI conditions such as GERD, IBS, IBD, peptic ulcer disease, liver cirrhosis, and pancreatitis
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams to provide integrated and high-quality care
- Develop individualized treatment plans including dietary, pharmacologic, and procedural interventions
- Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical exams, diagnosis, and treatment
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient care, procedures, and billing
- Support training, education, and quality improvement initiatives
- Actively participate in hospital committees, CME programs, and clinical audits
- Advise on and assist in updating clinical policies and practice guidelines in alignment with QCHP standards
- Ensure optimal use of medical and healthcare resources
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior medical and nursing staff as required
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical and regulatory standards
Requirements
Medical degree from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of accredited residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in GastroenterologyBoard Certification in GastroenterologyMinimum of 10 years post-specialization clinical experience, including at least 3 years in a government, semi-government, or teaching institutionPrevious GCC experience is requiredLicensed or eligible for licensing with the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP)ACLS certification requiredExpert-level knowledge and competency in all gastro-endoscopic and colonoscopy proceduresStrong diagnostic and imaging interpretation skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systemsFluent in Arabic and English (Essential)Other nationalities will be considered an advantageStrong communication, leadership, and teamwork skillsHigh level of professionalism, ethics, and commitment to patient-centered careAbility to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environmentDemonstrated commitment to continuous professional developmentBenefits and perks
