We are supporting a leading LNG company in Qatar in recruiting a Head of Project Engineering (Offsites) for the North Field South and North Field West Onplot projects. This role oversees engineering design and execution by EPC contractors and sub-contractors, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget compliance while leading project coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Reporting and Relationships
- Reports to Project Division Manager – Offsites
- No direct reports
- Frequent contact with EPC Project Division Managers, EPC Engineering Manager, other Project Team Heads (Quality, Construction, Systems Completion, Procurement, SHE, Interface), and discipline Heads
- Periodic interaction with other LNG projects and departments, contractors, vendors, consultants, and project stakeholders
Job Context & Major Challenges
Responsible for seamless execution of all project engineering activities within the Offsite Delivery TeamManage risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide fit-for-purpose solutionsDevelop engineering execution plans, sequencing, prioritisation, and resource allocation to meet project objectivesManage conflicting priorities and multiple stakeholder viewsEnsure sufficient high-quality resources to meet safety, quality, and schedule objectivesInterface and coordinate multiple groups to efficiently resolve issues and implement opportunitiesHandle ad-hoc and short notice engineering support requestsKey Accountabilities
Lead multi-discipline activities with the Offsite Delivery Team and coordinate EPC execution of engineering, procurement, and construction to meet milestones and budgetSupport Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning to ensure alignment and timely executionMonitor execution using KPIs, detect deviations, enable early interventions, and report performance through weekly and monthly delivery reportsApply risk management techniques for multi-discipline decision making and communicate technical issues to managementUphold project safety programmes and ensure safe execution of all activities, participating in safety walks and initiativesLead change management processes, documenting and managing risks associated with design changesEvaluate and participate in equipment testing, site visits, contractor workshop assessments, and EPC performance monitoringProvide leadership to resolve multi-discipline issues and drive alignment between stakeholder groupsQualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or EngineeringExperience & Knowledge
Minimum 10 years in the Oil & Gas industry with experience in detailed engineering management of major projectsPreferably experience on LNG projects, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight roleEngineering leadership in multi-discipline teams, with knowledge of design safety aspectsRisk assessment experience to support decision makingExperience with LNG facilities and large process unit designExperience working with major EPC contractors in a Lump Sum environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills, able to lead and communicate at all organisational levelsAbility to work with diverse cultural backgroundsField engineering experience is desirableTechnical & Business Skills
