The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Qatar, established in March 2022, partners with the Government and Ministry of Public Health to strengthen national health systems and champion public health. Guided by science and a commitment to equity, WHO supports Member States in generating reliable health evidence, advancing Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and positioning Qatar as a regional leader in public health. The Public Health Expert will play a pivotal role in supporting WHO’s mission to deliver accessible, resilient, and inclusive health services for all people in Qatar.
Description of Duties
- Coordinate technical assistance to Ministry of Public Health focal points across public health disciplines.
- Develop strategic documents, concept notes, and advocacy communication products.
- Collaborate on initiatives targeting noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and health determinants.
- Design innovative projects aligned with national priorities and best practices.
- Assess engagement of people with lived experience of cancer and support proposal development for strategic interventions.
- Initiate and implement proposed activities, liaise with stakeholders, and manage challenges.
- Prepare final reports with recommendations for scaling meaningful engagement in the health sector.
- Facilitate multisectoral collaboration, capacity building, and policy development.
Profile Requirements
Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field.Minimum 7 years’ professional experience in public health, including epidemiology, health systems strengthening, NCD prevention, health literacy, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning.Experience in program management and implementation with organizations holding a scientific or public health mandate preferred.Strong writing, communication, and computer skills.Entitlements
