Wood are actively seeking Expression of Interest for Commercial Manager role to support future growth in our expanding business. This role will be based in Qatar. In this role, you will oversee contract commercial management tasks aligned with our Framework for Managing the Fundamentals (FMF). Responsibilities include contract management, risk, change management, monitoring returns, cash management, and supply chain oversight. The ideal candidate will have robust commercial acumen, adaptable skills, and the ability to manage oversight and direct contract management tasks as needed. Responsibilities
Handover and Initial Setup : Transition management to jointly lead a structured handover from pre- to post-contract award, ensuring contracts are well understood and project team members are aware of commercial obligations. Contract Review : Analyze contract remuneration, set up Delegation of Authority, understand anticipated return and other financial parameters, and align with project budgets and schedules. Post-Award Contract Administration and Compliance : Establish commercial administration procedures, ensure adherence to contract terms, and manage deliverables (guarantees, insurances, change management plans, invoicing, templates). Contractual Correspondence : Serve as the primary commercial point for contractual letters with clients or third parties and manage related issues. Risk Management : Understand risks identified in Capture / Acquire phases, document and communicate mitigations, monitor risk registers, and maintain risk governance with the project team. Change Management : Understand contractual change mechanisms, issue timely notices, maintain documentation, and structure change orders to maximise entitlements while safeguarding margins. Procurement and Subcontracting : Ensure flow-downs are compliant and assist with subcontractor / supplier performance and related contract matters. Financial and Cash Flow Management : Enforce cash flow discipline, monitor returns and contingencies, and support profitability analysis and adjustments. Project Monitoring and Reporting : Attend PMRs, assess risks and opportunities, and report commercial performance and compliance to senior management. Project Oversight and Supervision : Where appropriate, supervise Contracts Managers and act as Contracts Manager on high-priority projects. Commercial Closeout : Lead closeout processes, manage defects liability, resolve claims, variations, and disputes in line with FMF procedures. Qualifications
Experience And Skills : 10-15 years of project commercial management experience on large-scale projects, preferably in engineering or construction. Strong knowledge of post-award contract management, compensation models, risk mitigation, and change management. Strategic communication and ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate across levels. Financial and analytical skills related to cash flow, profitability, and ROI. Organizational skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach. Educational Background : Preferred : Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Business, or Law. Commercial Experience Requirement : Substantial experience in Project Commercial Management (10-15 years) especially in contract negotiation, project delivery, and financial management.
