Job description

Primary Purpose Of The Job

Responsible for Production & Development Geology activities in QatarEnergy nonoperated International O&G assets. Carry out reservoir characterization & regional studies, appraisal plans, evaluation of well data, cores & SWC’s, RCA & SCAL analysis, fluid samples & dynamic data to build a conceptual framework for reservoir modelling and development plans for conventional and unconventional reservoirs. Build 3D geomodels from scratch, integrating static and dynamic information including environment of deposition (EOD) and seismic attributes using a multidisciplinary approach. Work with reservoir engineers to identify optimum development and infill well locations, completion targets for best recovery, and recommendations of areas for potential incremental reserves. Update static reservoir models to provide optimal models for reservoir simulation and reservoir management.

Review daily well reports and all geological data for non-operated assets to ensure high-quality data. Participate in technical reviews, challenge the operator constructively, and support improvement, including involvement in budget reviews, business plans and asset management activities.

Required Experience And Skills

  • A minimum of 15 years in the oil & gas industry with practical hands-on geosciences work within Field Development and Management as a Production & Development Geologist.
  • Experience across diverse international assets and environments; carbonate and siliciclastic systems; deep-water pre-salt and turbidites appraisal & development; FDP & FID execution.
  • Horizontal well planning & execution support including real-time involvement.
  • Experience in operated and non-operated ventures.
  • Awareness of technological developments in the field.
  • High proficiency or expert level in computer applications and specialized software (e.g., Petrel).
  • Deep understanding of clastic & carbonate depositional environments, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy & reservoir geology.

    • Educational Qualifications

  • B.Sc. with a major in Geology from an accredited university. A Master’s and Ph.D. in Reservoir Geology / Management would be a plus.
