Job descriptionAssess, screen and evaluate students; share results with parents and educational staff and participate in eligibility determination. Provide high‑quality direct speech‑language therapy services according to students’ Individual Education Plans. Conduct assessments, analyse results and write reports to determine strengths and concerns in speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language and oral‑motor skills. Develop IEPs that are SMART, strength‑based and child‑family centred. Ensure evaluations, IEPs and service delivery align with school guidelines. Assist teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays / disorders. Provide consultative services for staff by sharing and demonstrating specific techniques and working with teams to facilitate consistent interventions. Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster student success and engage families. Maintain and submit student progress reports and other information for all students. Coordinate with the SENCO to ensure school mission, philosophy and procedures are embraced. Keep abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development. Contribute productively to the school as a whole. Use clinical reasoning skills to analyse assessment results and set appropriate therapy goals and outcome measures. Monitor, evaluate and modify intervention to measure progress and ensure effectiveness. Provide individual or small‑group therapy as required. Coordinate with team members and families to integrate occupational therapy treatment into student targets for learning and daily living. Provide training to school staff and parents. Work closely with the SEN team, including the occupational therapist, to ensure child centred provision. Develop and monitor S&L programmes implemented by Special Education Teachers and Learning assistants. Advise on and order specialist equipment / software, considering financial implications. Attend IEP meetings, reviews and parent evenings. Use IT and alternative methods like Makaton, symbols, visuals and objects to overcome communication barriers. Manage a clinical caseload and allocate time effectively. Maintain accurate treatment records in accordance with the Standards of Practice set by THIS. Write professional reports for review meetings and attend those meetings as appropriate. Accountable for own professional action and recognise boundaries, seeking advice when necessary. Handle work with sensitivity, professionalism and confidentiality. Respect pupil confidentiality, individuality, cultural and religious diversity. Complete induction programmes and CPD, including child protection, safeguarding, health and safety and risk management. Participate in staff meetings, department meetings and liaison meetings with other professionals. Promote awareness of S&L therapy within the school and home community. Maintain personal development through on‑site and off‑site training, group involvement and literature review. Keep abreast of new developments and ensure practice is evidence‑based. Review and reflect on own practice through supervision. Adhere to professional standards and the Code of Conduct. Emphasise safety, responsible attitudes and respect for school property and equipment. Perform playground duties on time and with due diligence to safeguard students. Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Assist in implementing student life policies and rules. Ensure all health and safety rules and procedures are followed. Stay aware of necessary health and safety measures in school. Current license or qualification for a license as a Speech‑Language Pathologist. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Preferred experience with oral‑motor skills, childhood development, TEACCH, PECS, ABA / VB strategies. Outstanding performance in counselling & wellbeing in a school setting. Excellent communication skills and command of English, spoken and written. Strong organisation skills; prioritise, multitask and meet deadlines. Reliable, punctual and flexible under pressure. Customer service orientation and critical thinking. Negotiation, persuasion and motivation skills. Professionalism and safeguarding focus. Team‑player with excellent interpersonal skills. Behaviour management and computer competency. Record‑keeping and report preparation competency. Willingness to undertake professional development. Empathetic listener, integrity and confidentiality. Internationally minded, emotionally intelligent and creatively flexible. Passionate about delivering quality education. Able to command respect of pupils, colleagues and parents. Driven to improve quality and develop the school. Reliable, detail‑oriented and committed to quality. Innovator willing to embrace change. Compliance with the school's Vision, Mission and Policies. Positive professional relationships with all staff. Contact with students is strictly professional and prioritises safety. Adherence to confidentiality and protection of information. Strictly follow working hours arranged with the principal. Qualifications & experience in Inclusive Education. Qualifications in Occupational, Speech & Language, Behaviour or Music Therapy.
