Journalist Travel Vertical - Euronews Doha
Euronews Doha launched its bureau in 2021 in partnership with Qatar Media City. The multi-cultural bureau is a regional hub that films original content and tells stories from across the Middle East and Asia. Euronews Travel is Euronews’ new global initiative dedicated to inspiring and informing audiences about the world of travel, with a focus on sustainability, cultural exploration, and immersive storytelling.
The Travel Journalist reports to the Managing Editor and horizontally to the central newsroom management in Brussels (Head of Verticals). The Travel Journalist is an experienced specialist Travel journalist and producer, working across digital and television, driving the day-to-day content of the vertical under the direction of the managing editor, adhering to Euronews editorial values, principles and guidelines and to operational processes.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the rollout and delivery of partnerships and commercial efforts, contributing to the development of editorial, marketing and commercial strategies to increase traffic and revenues.
- Oversee the day-to-day editorial selection, production, and output of the vertical, ensuring relevance, consistency, and performance of the content.
- Conduct front-page editing, SEO optimization, social media, and contribute to the production of television content.
- Plan content and events, create an editorial calendar with News, Sales, Partnerships, and lead vertical daily meetings; participate in News-wide meetings.
- Assign production of text and video content to staff and freelancers (articles, social media, interviews, infographics, live streaming, etc.).
- Format and publish third-party or external content.
- Monitor content performance in real-time using audience and performance analysis tools; drive digital performance of content.
- Coordinate with all Euronews content-related departments (graphics, IT) and other bureau content units.
- Foster online community management.
- Create links with the Euronews ecosystem, other verticals, News teams, and promote multi-platform cross-promotion with Euronews TV, digital, events, and partnerships products.
- Collaborate with Euronews Product, Audience and IT departments for platform optimization and development, and for evolutions of digital technologies.
- Ensure legal and industry compliance of all published / broadcast content, respect video copyrights, industry standards, and privacy.
- Propose staffing solutions to the bureau chief who is responsible for staffing changes, evolution, promotion, and disciplinary aspects.
Prerequisites
4 or 5 years of higher education in Journalism, a journalist qualification or equivalentStrong experience as a journalist in a news media outlet with a multimedia approach to storytellingExcellent command of English (C1 level). Any additional language is highly appreciated.Project and workflow management skills with the ability to coordinate workflows and set realistic deadlines.Strong digital culture and fluent user of technology.A solid understanding of and great passion for regional, European and world news.Excellent writing and oral abilities.Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills with diverse team members and audiences.Good stress management in a fast-paced working environment.Solid understanding of Euronews objectives and operations.Adaptability and flexibility in the face of unforeseen challenges.Fairness, respect, and motivation in leading and managing teams.Contract information
