Job description

Position Overview The Valve Workshop & Service Manager will be responsible for managing all operations related to the valve service workshop — including servicing, testing, assembly, valve actuation integration, inspection, and quality assurance. The role requires strong technical expertise in valve servicing and actuation systems, comprehensive understanding of ISO and API Q1 audit requirements, and proven experience managing service teams and workshop operations within the oil & gas, Petrochemical & Power sector.

Key Responsibilities 1. Workshop Operations Management

Oversee the complete valve servicing, assembly, hydro-testing, and actuation integration activities in the workshop.

Plan, schedule, and monitor daily workshop operations to ensure timely completion of client projects.

Ensure proper allocation of manpower, tools, and equipment to meet project and service targets.

Supervise technicians and service engineers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work execution.

2. Valve & Actuation Expertise

Manage service, testing, and assembly of various valve types — Ball, Gate, Globe, Check, DBB, and Butterfly valves.

Coordinate and perform valve actuation integration (pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric) including calibration, torque testing, and functional checks.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system issues.

Provide technical guidance for actuator mounting, bracket adaptation, and control system integration.

3. Quality & Compliance

Implement and maintain workshop procedures in compliance with ISO 9001 and API Q1 standards.

Ensure proper documentation for traceability, calibration, and testing as per project and client requirements.

Prepare and maintain workshop SOPs, inspection reports, and service records.

Lead internal and external quality audits (API Q1, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and client audits).

Ensure adherence to QatarEnergy and other client-specific QA / QC standards.

4. Project Coordination & Client Interface

Liaise with clients, inspectors, and third-party agencies during valve servicing and testing.

Coordinate with procurement and logistics for timely availability of spare parts, materials, and consumables.

Support the sales and project teams with technical inputs, service proposals, and quotations.

Ensure proper communication and documentation with clients for approvals and service completion reports.

5. Team Leadership & Training

Supervise and mentor workshop technicians and service engineers to improve performance and technical competency.

Conduct training programs for the service team on valve maintenance, actuation, and testing procedures.

Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all workshop activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Education :

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Instrumentation

Experience :

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in valve servicing, testing, and actuation integration — preferably within the Middle East.

Industry Exposure :

Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Refinery service sector.

Certifications (Preferred) :

ISO 9001 : 2015 Internal Auditor

API Q1 or API 6D awareness

Safety / H2S / Confined Space certification

Added Advantage :

Prior experience in Qatar

Familiarity with QatarEnergy, QatarEnergy LNG, Shell & NOC standards and workshop approval process

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Deep technical knowledge of valve design, servicing, and actuation principles.

Hands‑on experience with valve testing equipment and control systems.

Excellent knowledge of ISO, API Q1, and workshop audit compliance.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
