Job description

Avanceon is looking to hire Assistant Project Manager in Projects Division at its Qatar Office.

This is a developmental role leading toward full Project Manager responsibilities within Avanceon's Projects Division. High-performing APMs will gain exposure to complex automation systems, customer engagement, and international project standards - paving the way for leadership roles in project and program management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Support Project Manager in preparing detailed execution plans, schedules, and progress reports using Avanceon's project control templates.
  • Coordinate between internal departments (Engineering, SCM, Finance, QA / QC, Site) to ensure timely task completion.
  • Track project milestones, material deliveries, and resource mobilization plans.
  • Maintain and update project dashboards and status trackers per PMO reporting standards.

Technical & Documentation Assistance

  • Assist in preparing or reviewing system architecture diagrams, control philosophies, I / O lists, FAT / SAT protocols, and project submittals.
  • Support Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT / SAT), including documentation and punch-list closure.
  • Manage document transmittals to ensure submissions comply with Avanceon's document control procedures.
  • Commercial & Contractual Support

  • Assist in monitoring project cost sheets, billing milestones, and subcontractor claims.
  • Support preparation of variation orders, change requests, and project correspondence.
  • Coordinate with SCM on supplier follow-ups, logistics, and BOQ alignment.
  • Client & Site Interface

  • Participate in client meetings, document minutes (MoMs), and update action trackers.
  • Coordinate with site teams on installation, testing, and commissioning progress.
  • Follow up on punch-list closure and ensure documentation completion prior to handover.
  • Required Skills & Competencies

  • Solid understanding of PLC and SCADA systems (preferably Siemens PCS7, S7-400 / 1500, WinCC).
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control system architecture drawings.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and project reporting tools.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks.
  • Proactive learner with a positive attitude and commitment to project excellence.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of experience in industrial automation or control system projects, ideally within a system integrator or EPC environment.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Water, or Manufacturing sectors is a strong advantage.
