JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations through process optimization and process improvement efforts throughout company facilities. Identify and develop process improvement opportunities to bring value to company operations and facilities. Drive process optimization initiatives in order to enhance operational efficiency.
4.1 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Process Support Engineering
- Investigate and resolve issues that arise in the production process and utilize analytical skills to identify root causes and propose practical corrective actions. Implement solutions to prevent recurring problems and improve overall process reliability.
 - Proactively seeking opportunities to enhance processes, introduce new technologies, and implement best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence and cost reduction. Stay up to date with industry trends, advancements, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
 - Maintain a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the production process. Keep abreast of industry standards and regulations relevant to process engineering. Apply technical knowledge to optimize processes and ensure compliance with quality standards.
 - Collaborate effectively with production, quality assurance teams, and maintenance personnel. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to drive collaboration and achieve shared objectives.
 - Enhance unit monitoring of product yields, quality, endpoints, transfer temperatures, flow rates, catalyst productivity, and other relevant factors by developing advanced process monitoring tools. Utilize these tools to continuously monitor and assess the performance of designated equipment, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and providing recommendations.
 - Offer practical and effective solutions for plant upsets and operational challenges. Propose changes to operating procedures and instructions, as well as operational adjustments, to enhance efficiency and address issues. Review and update necessary documents such as alarm index, narrative control, Emergency Shutdown Procedures, Pressure Relief Valve forms, plant PID drawings, Control Valve data sheets, and other process-related materials. Conduct comprehensive plant walkthroughs to identify abnormal conditions and suggest improvements to the Lead Process Support Engineer.
 - Develop comprehensive process designs for engineering packages and actively oversee their implementation. Coordinate closely with Operations Specialists to ensure the successful execution of necessary plant changes, overseeing the entire process from initial investigation to design, construction, and start-up.
 - Participate in the PHA and MOC process by providing technical inputs and evaluating recommendations to ensure operational feasibility and compliance to safety standards.
 - Provide inputs to the project framing document with supporting mark-up documents to plant modifications and improvements (TWR Process). Develop scope of work and package for plant modifications during normal operations and Turnarounds, including feasibility analysis.
 - Specialty and experience in simulator Modelling for Process Unit operations troubleshooting is required.
 - Provide training and mentorship to junior team members to build a skilled and capable workforce. Share expertise and knowledge to support the professional development of team members. Contribute to developing training materials and facilitate knowledge transfer within the organization.
 - Provide support for equipment inspections and associated process engineering recommendations.
 - Conduct risk assessments for process-related activities and implement strategies to mitigate potential risks. Prioritizing safety and identifying hazards to protect employees, equipment, and the environment.
 - Aligning process improvements with customer requirements and expectations. Seek customer feedback and make necessary adjustments to meet or exceed expectations. Contribute to the overall goal of ensuring high customer satisfaction and fostering long‑term relationships.
 
4.2 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Utilize data analysis tools and software to analyze process performance and identify trends. Generate reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Use data-driven insights to drive decision-making and prioritize improvement initiatives.Conduct thorough investigations to determine the root causes of process failures or deviations. Apply root cause analysis techniques, such as the 5 Whys, to identify underlying issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and prevent future occurrences.Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement strategies to achieve budget targets. Monitor and track expenses, ensuring adherence to allocated budgets and cost‑saving initiatives.Mentor and coach junior team members to develop their skills and achieve their full potential.Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
Ensure compliance with all policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out safely and consistently.Ensure implementation of policies, procedures, systems, and controls in compliance with Q-Chem’s standards and regulatory requirements.Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of processes, procedures, and compliance requirements. Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations. Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.Quality, Health, Security, Safety and Environment
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls across the Department to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high-quality services.Lead engineering efforts to reduce environmental impact and eliminate Process Safety and Personal Safety Events through engineering solutions.Reporting
Ensure all Process Engineering reports are prepared in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner to meet business reporting requirements and standards and provide insight to facilitate sound decision-making.Ensure all process unit KPI Metrics are monitored, measured, and reviewed with required actions taken on a routine basis.Provide regular progress reports to the Lead Process Support Engineer, Process Engineering Superintendent, and Technical Manager regarding the status of activities in relation to the annual business plans. Communicate updates on opportunities, challenges, and issues encountered, along with the mitigations implemented, to ensure informed decision-making.Keep records of units’ documentation history (especially new projects and developments) by regularly updating the Process Engineering E‑Filing Folder.Participate in the in‑house knowledge‑sharing initiative by attending and presenting topics.4.3 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
Required (Qualification1 / Discipline) : Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Preferred (Qualification1 / Discipline) : Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Experience
Required (Years2 / Job Level3 / Industry) : 5-7 ears of experience in Petrochemicals Industry in Process Engineering.
Preferred (Years2 / Job Level3 / Industry) : Experience in O&G / Petrochemical Industry.
Required Skills
Participate and lead the technical evaluation of tenders and selection of vendors for chemicals and process equipment and lead the efforts for a new chemical approval process.
