Key Responsibilities
Ensures all activities comply with Fairmont & Raffles Hotel Doha’s Quality Management System, company mission, vision, and health & safety regulations.
Monitors workplace safety, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and legal requirements, including Permit to Work systems.
Conducts job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Enforces corrective actions for unsafe conditions or behaviors, and has the authority to stop unsafe work immediately if needed.
Coordinates emergency response efforts, assumes command during incidents, and ensures all personnel understand emergency roles and procedures.
Investigates accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and prevent future incidents.
Provides safety training and leads toolbox meetings to keep all employees informed about safety protocols.
Communicates safety messages clearly across teams and Incident Command members.
Develops, reviews, and enforces safety policies, including subcontractor safety plans.
Maintains accurate injury logs, safety reports, and compliance documentation, submitting them to relevant government bodies.
Ensures all tools, equipment, and safety devices are properly maintained and safe to use.
Oversees proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances and waste.
Promotes a safety-first culture by responding to employee safety concerns and fostering awareness of risks.
Maintains clear and visible health and safety signage throughout the workplace.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role in a related industry.
Strong knowledge of health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop effective safety procedures.
Excellent communication and training skills.
Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage emergencies calmly and effectively.Proficient in maintaining safety documentation and reporting.
