Sidra Medicine’s Department of Radiology has an international reputation for providing excellence in clinical care, teaching and biomedical research. The Department of Radiology coordinates its medical services and collaborates its research and educational activities with Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar. The level of Qatari interest and support in medical quality, education, innovative research and technology has already resulted in significant discoveries and highly functional research organizations that will collaborate with Sidra. The Department of Radiology at Sidra Medicine offers a comprehensive range of routine and advanced Diagnostic Imaging services for women and children, equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technology in a completely digital imaging environment. The Department of Radiology is made up of the following services, delivered in accordance with best‑practice standards whilst being driven by clinical evidence methodologies, in a patient‑centered, highly collaborative environment : General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Bone Mineral Densitometry, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiography, Intraoperative MRI, CT, Nuclear medicine, PET / CT. A broad range of services will be provided including the use of novel and upcoming technologies. It is anticipated that, by providing specialist and sub‑specialist expertise in an integrated team environment and concomitantly conducting research, Sidra will become a substantive referral centre for patients within and outside Qatar.
Key Role Accountabilities
- Plans, prioritises, and organizes Ultrasound workload, ensuring the necessary patient care is provided to patients of all ages.
- Ensures that systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care for the modality are adhered to as directed. Provides modality expertise in reference to the Ultrasound service, assists in the maintenance and development of the Ultrasound service.
- Working independently, performs all routine and specialised Ultrasound procedures, and associated responsibilities, as dictated by the workload in the rostered area. Plans, prioritises and organizes Ultrasound workload, ensuring the necessary patient care is provided to patients of all ages.
- Acts independently in the assessment of referrals for Ultrasound examinations, taking full responsibility to reduce unnecessary ionising radiation exposure of patients and utilising skills to assess a patient’s condition, often acute, decide on an appropriate method to obtain a diagnostic image from a range of options.
- Participates in standby and on‑call roster systems for the Diagnostic Imaging service, in imaging areas appropriate to training and qualifications, as designated by senior staff.
- Provides support and relief for department managers as required.
- Adheres to departmental and applicable organisational policies, procedures and regulations relevant to the Ultrasound patient care team. Maintains accurate and concise records of all imaging received by the patient using the appropriate systems.
- Supports the Supervisor – Ultrasound to manage and maintain a high level of expertise and reduce faults / issues effectively to guarantee the safe operations of the Ultrasound equipment, ensuring an efficient flow and optimal utilisation of resources.
- Implements directed at change to effect continual improvement in services provided and ensures compliance with all internal and external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements.
- Involved in the training and development of new employees in equipment and procedures in the area of operations in alignment with the departments and Sidra’s training objectives and plans.
- Participates in and complies with quality improvement programmes and competency assessment initiatives for the Diagnostic imaging services.
- Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with Sidra’s professional development programmes to ensure maintenance of professional licensure / accreditation.
- Monitors and maintains stock levels for consumables relative to the service.
- Adheres to and promotes compliance with the hospital’s radiation safety and protection and MRI safety policies and associated codes of practice and takes appropriate action where non‑compliance is evident.

Qualifications & Experience
Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Imaging or equivalent
Experience : 5+ years relevant experience in an accredited healthcare or related environment
Certification & Licensure :
Eligible for registration with the ARRT / CAMRT / HCPC or an equivalent licensing / accreditation board as a SonographerEligible for licensure as a Sonographer in the State of QatarSeniority Level
