Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our team as a Safety Officer who is responsible for monitoring activities at both the airside and landside QDFC facilities and locations, ensuring that all employees, external suppliers and operators comply with QDFC safety standards. Conducting frequent safety inspections to identify and address any safety concerns. Ensuring that QDFC infrastructure and facilities remains safe, orderly, and compliant with national and airport regulations and legislation. The role includes the monitoring and analyzing safety practices within QDFC operations to enhance safety awareness across the QDFC business.

Operations

  • Gather data from regular checks, compile, analyze and summarize to identify trends and present to relevant stakeholders and Managers.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure alignment with international standards and assist employees in reporting incidents, leading investigations and implementing corrective actions for all QHSE incidents within QDFC.
  • Support employees and contractors in completing QHSE related training to raise awareness and promote a safe culture across all QDFC locations.
  • Support all business partners, both internal and external, for all QHSE related matters for all retail and hospitality locations.
  • Assist with and conduct QHSE inspections and audits throughout QDFC to identify potential hazards in the workplace, recommend controls to the appropriate department, and follow up to ensure implementation.
  • Develop monthly reports on QHSE trends and analysis and present findings to relevant departments where appropriate.
  • Conduct investigation of incidents and accidents related to QDFC and assist in preparation and conduct of any legal proceedings.
  • Take lead in health and safety promotions across QDFC for events and activities to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Perform other department duties related to the position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications

High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification / Diploma or Equivalent with Minimum 4 years of job‑related experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 3 years of job‑related experience.

Essential

  • Certification in either Health & Safety or Environmental Safety.
  • NEBOSH IGC or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong abilities in the use of Microsoft systems.
  • Excellent decision making, problem solving and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Knowledge of airport operations and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of retail operations, policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of warehouse operation, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret ordinances, laws and operating procedures.
  • Ability to coordinate emergency situations and respond appropriately.
  • Understanding of the principles of supervision.
  • Good computer literacy, administration and office skills.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with superiors, peers and other employees.
  • Ability to work within a team and meet timelines.
  • Shift work and irregular hours may be required as per operational requirement.
  • A flexible and positive attitude is sought.

    • Preferred

  • IMS Internal Auditor in Quality, Health & Safety and / or Environmental.
  • Investigation skills.
  • Level 3 training on Food Safety.
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment.
