Job Summary

Head of PR & Communications professional manages the development and execution of strategic public relations initiatives aimed at enhancing MCQ’s visibility and reputation locally and internationally. The role involves managing stakeholder engagement, overseeing media relations, and ensuring consistent, impactful communication across all channels.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the design and execution of comprehensive PR strategies and annual plans to enhance MCQ's visibility and reputation both locally and internationally.
  • Identify clear KPIs and necessary resources for effective implementation of PR strategies.
  • Collaborate with the ED / Director of Marketing and Communication and other departments to identify key stakeholders and determine the best approach for engagement.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to manage MCQ's reputation during challenging instances and situations.
  • Manage the development of PR content, including storylines, press releases, media advisories, pitches, and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and global media outlets, as well as key influencers and thought leaders, to enhance MCQ's credibility and broaden its reach.
  • Organize and prepare for press interviews, conferences, and public appearances, working with event planners and marketing team members to ensure communication messages’ consistency.
  • Provide training for MCQ's executives before public appearances as necessary.
  • Track MCQ’s brand perception and PR activity effectiveness, producing reports and dashboards to display performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to integrate PR and communication efforts into overall marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in PR and communication to continuously enhance MCQ's strategies and approaches.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and sentiment to gauge the effectiveness of PR strategies and make adjustments as needed.

Strategic Contribution

  • Ensure effective cascading of the divisional strategy into sectional business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing strategies.
  • People Management

  • Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the assigned section by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximise sectional performance.
  • Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned section, collaborating with technical / discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Manage the preparation and recommend the sectional budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget, while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.
  • Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned sectional activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
  • Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
  • Reporting

  • Ensure that all sectional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet MCQ requirements, policies and quality standards.
  • Qualifications, Experience & Skills

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a similar discipline from a reputable university.
  • Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in similar roles in large companies, of which at least 3 years are in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities, demonstrating a strong effective leadership skills.

  • Familiarity with PR analytics techniques and tools
  • Established business relationships with relevant media outlets, both in Qatar and abroad
  • Fluency in Arabic and English
