Inclusion Class Teacher

The Inclusion Teacher supports the Head of Inclusion and Inclusion Coordinator to ensure that Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision is both efficiently and effectively managed. The role is responsible for leading a dedicated inclusion classroom and providing high‑quality teaching through an adapted curriculum, Individual Education Plans, and collaboration with a multi‑disciplinary team.

Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility

Learning and Teaching

  • Lead a dedicated classroom for students with additional learning needs, tailoring teaching methods, materials, and activities to suit each student.
  • Work closely with subject teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment where students with SEN can participate meaningfully in all lessons, receive additional support when needed, and thrive academically and socially.
  • Assessment and Monitoring of Progress

  • Assess and track the progress of students with SEN using formative and summative assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Inclusion Coordinator to ensure that IEPs effectively address student needs and that progress is consistently monitored, adjusting teaching approaches based on evidence.
  • IEP Process and Implementation

  • Be involved in the IEP process, collaborating with the Inclusion Coordinator, teachers, parents, and professionals to develop and review IEPs tailored to each student.
  • Ensure IEPs are implemented effectively in the classroom, adjusting teaching practices as necessary.
  • Conduct IEP reviews to assess progress, make adjustments to goals or strategies, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Curriculum Planning and Adaptation

  • Plan and adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of SEN students.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to ensure lesson plans are inclusive and accessible.
  • Modify and differentiate lesson content, instructional methods, and assessment strategies to accommodate different abilities.
  • Subject and Curriculum Knowledge

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the school’s curriculum across various grade levels.
  • Ensure students with SEN can access all subject areas and support classroom teachers with appropriate content modification.
  • Stay updated on best practices in inclusive curriculum design and ensure all students achieve academic success.
  • Collaboration with Therapists and Specialists

  • Collaborate with a dedicated in‑house team of speech, occupational, and other specialists.
  • Create a holistic support system for each student.
  • Inclusion and Advocacy

  • Promote a supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Ensure students with SEN are actively inclusive in all classroom activities.
  • Advocate for SEN students, ensuring their voices are heard and learning requirements are met.
  • Professional Development and Reflection

  • Engage in training, workshops, and conferences focusing on special education and inclusive teaching.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback to continually improve.
  • Stay current with the latest research and strategies in SEN education.
  • Behaviour Management

  • Maintain clear rules and routines, promoting courteous behaviour in accordance with the school’s policy.
  • Set high expectations, using praise, sanctions, and rewards consistently.
  • Manage classrooms effectively, motivating students with tailored approaches.
  • Maintain good relationships, exercising appropriate authority and acting decisively when necessary.
  • Wider Professional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to school life, including extra‑curricular activities and department events.
  • Develop professional relationships, knowing when to seek advice and support.
  • Deploy support staff effectively and pursue professional development.
  • Assist in organizing and running curriculum days such as Language Day.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupil achievements and wellbeing.
  • General Responsibilities

  • Complete all other reasonable teaching tasks.
  • Be fully aware of health and safety across the school.

  • Emphasize safety in all curriculum areas, communicating responsibility to pupils.
  • Perform playground duties and safeguard students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assist in implementing all student life and conduct policies.
  • Ensure all health and safety rules and procedures are followed.
  • Maintain awareness of all health and safety measures at school.

  • Maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, keeping professional boundaries.
  • Safeguard students’ wellbeing and respect others’ rights.
  • Show tolerance of and respect for differing faiths and beliefs.
  • Avoid expressing personal beliefs in ways that could exploit pupils.
  • Uphold the school’s ethos, policies, and practice, ensuring punctuality and attendance.

  • Position Requirements

    Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in teaching (accredited institution) – Special Education.
  • Required teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE.
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school.
  • Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience.
  • Language

  • English is mandatory.

  • Up-to-date curriculum developments.
  • Effective teaching and learning theory and practice for individual needs.
  • Proven management and communication skills.
