Electrical Design Engineer – Responsible for the detailed design and engineering of electrical systems, including the selection and sizing of transformers, UPS systems, lighting, emergency diesel generators (EDGs), breakers, and relays. Duties include developing technical drawings, performing electrical calculations, and ensuring all designs comply with oil and gas industry standards and specific project requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform load estimation and electrical power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and voltage drop calculations.
- Design and develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), power and control schematics, cable sizing, earthing, and lighting calculations.
- Prepare detailed engineering design packages for substations, motor control centers (MCCs), control panels, and distribution boards.
- Select electrical equipment such as power transformers, air circuit breakers (ACBs), protective relays, UPS systems, batteries, emergency diesel generators (EDGs), DC chargers, and lighting systems.
- Develop and review equipment datasheets, technical specifications, and bills of quantities (BOQs).
- Conduct technical evaluations of vendor proposals, ensuring alignment with project requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve technical queries and clarifications.
- Prepare and submit design reports, engineering calculations, and documentation.
- Collaborate with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure adherence to applicable international codes and standards such as IEC, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, ISO, and specific project requirements.
