Job descriptionOverall electrical site layout plan. Power supply layout. Transformer room – plan & section. MV room – plan & section. MCC room – plan & section. Diesel generator room – plan & section. Internal lighting plan & section. External lighting plan & section. Street / road lighting – plan & section. Small power – plan & section. Fire alarm system – plan & section. Fire alarm riser diagram. Earthing system – plan & section. Lightning protection system – plan & section. Single line diagram. Load schedule. Electrical cable schedule. Power cable route – plan & section. Generator hook‑up drawings & fuel system P&ID. Cable installation details. Must hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a reputable university recognized by the MM Engineering Committee of Qatar. Must have MM Engineering Committee registration. Grade A is preferred. Must have 15 years’ experience, with 10 years in electrical infrastructure (pump stations, electrical networks – EHV / HV, MV, LV, ELV – and building services). Must be knowledgeable in pump station electrical design and electrical network design (EHV / HV, MV, LV). Knowledge of the following is an advantage : Qatar Construction Specifications – QCS 2014 or latest; latest Qatar Civil Defence regulation / standards; latest kahramaa regulation / standards; Qatar Sewerage Drainage Design Manual. Familiarity with the following software is preferable : AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, AGI 32, Dialux. Must have excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be well‑versed in preparing calculations, associated reports, and technical notes on the above‑mentioned design fields.
Responsibilities
Prepare pump station electrical design. Coordinate and collaborate with other disciplines involved in pump stations or other MEP designs. Supervise or prepare design calculations as follows :
- Transformer sizing calculation.
- Lighting calculation.
- Cable sizing calculation, including voltage drop calculation.
- Capacitor bank calculation.
- Generator sizing calculation.
- Lightning protection calculation.
- UPS sizing calculation.
- Battery sizing calculation.
- Short circuit calculation.
- Earthing system calculation.
Supervise or prepare design drawings as follows :
Supervise or prepare infrastructure electrical network drawings as per authority standard requirements. Prepare design reports. Prepare technical notes. Prepare presentations to clients and stakeholders. Liaise with client and stakeholder design reviewers to address comments and secure design approval. Provide updates to team lead or project manager on status of the design. Provide feedback on resource requirements for assigned tasks.
