Project Engineer / Supdt

Job Summary :

The Project Engineer / Superintendent – Steel Fitting is responsible for managing and overseeing all steel fitting activities related to marine vessel construction, conversion, or repair. This role coordinates between engineering, production, subcontractors, and quality teams to ensure structural works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical specifications, project timelines, and marine industry standards.

Key Responsibilities :

Plan, coordinate, and supervise all steel fitting and structural assembly works for vessels or offshore units.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work packages related to hull construction, bulkheads, decks, and outfitting.

Prepare and monitor work schedules, material take-offs, and manpower requirements for fitting operations.

Ensure correct fitting techniques, alignment, and tolerances are applied in structural fabrication and installation.

Lead toolbox talks, ensure adherence to HSE policies, and conduct risk assessments related to structural fitting.

Coordinate with welding, piping, QC, and planning departments to align project execution.

Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.

Monitor progress and ensure timely completion of tasks; escalate delays or risks to the Project Manager.

Participate in client, class society, and internal inspections; ensure prompt rectification of any NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).

Prepare daily progress reports, man-hour tracking, and productivity summaries.

Requirements

Requirements :

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Marine Engineering or related field.

5+ years of experience in marine steel fitting, with at least 2 years in a project engineering or supervisory role.

Solid knowledge of shipbuilding processes, structural assembly, and marine classification society standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).

Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and fabrication plans.

Strong project coordination, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD / Navisworks (optional), and project management tools.

Effective communication skills in English; ability to interact with multi-disciplinary teams and external inspectors.
