Overview
Environmental Specialist role at WSP in the Middle East.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to Ashghal's standards and Qatar's environmental regulations. Conduct regular site audits and inspections to monitor compliance.
- Implement and maintain an effective EMS, achieving environmental best practices and compliance with all contractual and legal requirements.
- Liaise with government authorities, compile permit applications, and manage renewals as required.
- Develop and manage strategies to achieve sustainability targets, including monitoring environmental KPIs and ensuring alignment with sustainability rating schemes like CEEQUAL.
- Gather, consolidate, and analyze environmental data. Prepare monthly environmental reports for submission to the client and relevant authorities.
- Attend and contribute to weekly HSE and monthly progress meetings with the Supervisory Consultant (SC), Project Management Consultant (PMC), and Ashghal.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.14 years in environmental management roles, preferably within infrastructure or large-scale construction projects in the Middle East.In-depth understanding of Qatar's environmental laws and regulations.Relevant certifications in environmental management or sustainability (e.g., ISO 14001, CEEQUAL) are advantageous.Proficiency in environmental data analysis tools and reporting software.Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.Seniorities and Employment
