Job Description
Responsibilities :
Perform structural steel fitting and assembly for ship hulls, blocks, platforms, and other heavy structures.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches, and isometric diagrams accurately.
Mark, cut, grind, drill, and fit steel plates and sections according to layout dimensions.
Align and position components using measuring tools, wedges, jacks, and hydraulic presses to ensure correct tolerances.
Prepare joints for welding, ensuring correct root gaps, bevels, and fit-up quality.
Work closely with welders, riggers, and fabricators to complete assemblies per project specifications.
Conduct self-inspection of work prior to QC checks and ensure compliance with project standards.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience :
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Fabrication / Fitting Trade or equivalent.
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in steel fitting in shipyard, offshore, or heavy fabrication environments .
Experience in hull assembly, block erection, or offshore module fabrication preferred.
Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings, tolerances, and alignment symbols .
Basic knowledge of welding, cutting, and fabrication techniques.
Valid offshore medical and BOSIET / HUET certification (preferred for offshore assignments).
