Engineering Manager - Python and K8s
who is passionate about building a world-class DevOps culture in corporate information systems. We aim to transform our IS team into an extension of the product engineering capability, productising workloads for real-time automated operations on Kubernetes. The internal workloads often mirror the open source workloads our customers operate. As an engineering manager you'll lead a team in your local time zone, focused on business workloads that keep Ubuntu, Canonical, and our services highly available around the world. You will be responsible for sound software architecture and best practices in software quality, testing, and documentation. Technical leadership experience and a background in software engineering are prerequisites. You will lead, challenge, and develop strong engineers, positively influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work with your team on strategy and execution. What you’ll do
Responsibilities
Lead a team focused on productising business workloads
Build and manage a regional team of engineers
Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and feedback
Contribute toward your team\'s goals with hands-on engineering work
Set reasonable schedules based on estimates with feedback loops for improvement
Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams and external stakeholders
Advance modern, agile software development practices
Maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence
Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders
Work from home with global travel up to 20% for internal and external events
Qualifications
Experience in Docker and Kubernetes operations
Software engineering background with proven Python experience
Experience developing Python frameworks and understanding stable consumable APIs
Interest in embracing new technologies and pushing boundaries
Passion for building products that improve how people operate software and infrastructure
Experience developing and growing people with a track record of doing it
Knowledgeable and passionate about software development
Experience working in an agile development environment
