Xpendless is an innovative, fast-growing Fintech startup based in Qatar. We are currently in the final stage of QCB licensing and rapidly preparing for an imminent commercial launch . As a regulated entity, we are revolutionizing corporate spending and expense management for SMEs through our proprietary platform, which integrates a digital wallet and prepaid corporate card program . We are looking for foundational leaders to help us scale from the ground up and establish market leadership in the region.

Position Summary

The Senior Finance Accountant will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing the finance, accounting, and operational control function at Xpendless.

This is a critical, highly hands-on role that requires a blend of traditional accounting expertise and specialized knowledge of the payments ecosystem. The successful candidate will be the lynchpin for ensuring accurate financial reporting, establishing robust internal controls from day one, and providing strategic financial analysis to drive compliant, high-growth operations. This role is instrumental in ensuring the successful and compliant transition from the licensing phase to full commercial operation.

Key Responsibilities (Foundational & Ongoing)

  • Oversee and manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including the General Ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in compliance with IFRS / GAAP.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal financial controls, accounting policies, and procedures to support scaling operations.
  • Manage the year-end audit process and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.

2. Reconciliation & Regulatory Compliance (Payments Focus & Launch Readiness)

  • Act as the primary financial liaison for the final stages of QCB licensing , ensuring all financial submissions, reporting frameworks, and control documentation are finalized and approved for go-live clearance.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Qatar Central Bank (QCB) financial reporting and regulatory submission requirements .
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder daily and monthly reconciliations, which is critical for a payments business :
  • Bank Accounts and Treasury Management.
  • Card Processor (settlement, transaction flows, fees, and reserve accounts).
  • Card Scheme (Visa / Mastercard) interchange, assessments, and operational flows.
  • Monitor and manage financial risks related to payment operations, card issuance, and scheme compliance.
  • 3. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) & Budgeting

  • Develop and manage the company’s annual budget and provide ongoing financial forecasts and projections in a high-growth environment.
  • Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget / forecast) and provide insightful commentary on business performance to the Management Team.
  • Conduct financial modeling to support strategic initiatives, fundraising efforts, and new product launches.
  • Track and analyze key financial and operational KPIs (e.g., Customer Acquisition Cost, Lifetime Value, transaction volumes, burn rate) relevant to a high-growth fintech.
  • 4. General Finance Management & Strategy

  • Manage corporate tax compliance and reporting (if applicable).
  • Optimize cash flow management and treasury operations.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement financial systems and tools to automate and scale the finance function.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to department heads, helping them manage spending and understand financial implications of operational decisions.
  • Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2-3 years specifically in a payments, banking, or fintech environment.
  • Specialized Technical Skills (Mandatory) :
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with Card Scheme (Visa / Mastercard) and Payment Processor accounting and complex reconciliation flows.
  • Solid, practical understanding of QCB financial regulations and statutory reporting.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Odoo, Quickbooks, SAP, Oracle, or comparable cloud‑based GL systems) and advanced Excel / financial modeling.
  • Desired Attributes

  • Mindset : Entrepreneurial, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, ambiguous startup environment where building processes from scratch is required. Proven ability to perform under the pressure of a regulatory timeline (go‑live).
  • Analytical Rigor : Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle complex reconciliation challenges under pressure.
  • Communication : Strong presentation and communication skills, capable of translating complex financial information clearly for non‑finance stakeholders and the Board.
