Job Description
Overview
The Landscape Specialist is responsible for the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of landscape and grounds maintenance across the facility / campus portfolio. The role ensures high horticultural standards, cost-effective operations, and compliance with HSE and environmental requirements while enhancing the user experience and asset value. The position requires deep technical knowledge of horticulture and irrigation systems within the FM environment, strong vendor and stakeholder management, and data-driven performance reporting.
Your role
Strategy & Planning
- Develop seasonal and annual landscape maintenance plans, planting schedules, and improvement roadmaps aligned with site requirements and FM SLAs.
- Conduct site condition assessments (soil, turf, shrub beds, trees) and recommend corrective and enhancement works.
- Prepare scopes of work, BOQs, and technical specifications for landscaping projects and service contracts.
Operations & Service Delivery
Oversee day-to-day soft landscaping (turf care, pruning, planting, mulching, fertilization), hardscape upkeep (paths, edging), and arboriculture (tree care).Manage irrigation systems (programming, audits, water balancing, leak detection) to optimize water use and plant health.Implement integrated pest management (IPM) and plant health care programs compliant with local regulations.Coordinate planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks via CAFM / CMMS; ensure timely closure and quality.Lead small landscaping projects and seasonal enhancements; supervise in-house teams and / or service providers.HSE, Quality & Compliance
Enforce HSE standards, safe work methods (e.g., machinery operation, chemical handling), and PPE compliance.Maintain documentation for risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), permits, and incident reporting.Uphold ISO-aligned procedures (e.g., ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001) and site-specific FM standards and SLAs.Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage landscaping vendors : KPIs, audits, toolbox talks, and performance reviews.Liaise with client representatives, FM colleagues (MEP, housekeeping, security), and project teams to minimize operational impact.Review and certify invoices against measurable outputs and SLA performance.Budgeting & Sustainability
Prepare and manage budgets for O&M, consumables, and minor projects, track costs and variance.Drive sustainability initiatives (water-efficient planting, drought-tolerant species, smart irrigation, composting).Propose lifecycle improvements to reduce operating costs and environmental impact.Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Produce weekly / monthly reports (SLA / KPI status, water usage, plant mortality, PPM completion, incidents).Use data analytics (from CAFM / CMMS / IoT controllers) to identify trends and implement corrective actions.Train and mentor grounds teams on horticultural best practices and safety.About you
Qualifications & Requirements
Education : BSc degree in Agriculture (Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field).Experience : Minimum 5 years in the same position within the Facilities Management (FM) field, managing landscaping for commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, education, or government sites.Certification (Preferred) : CFM - Certified Facility Manager (or equivalent FM certification).Technical Expertise
Horticulture, turfgrass management, arboriculture, soil science, fertilization, and IPM.Irrigation design / operation (controllers, drip / sprinkler systems), water budgeting, and audits.Reading drawings / specifications; basic layout planning; familiarity with GIS / CAD is a plus.FM systems : CAFM / CMMS (e.g., Maximo, Planon), basic IoT / smart irrigation controllers.Soft Skills
Strong planning, supervision, and vendor management.Client-facing communication, report writing, and stakeholder coordination.Problem-solving, quality focus, and continuous improvement mindset.Other : Valid driver's license (if required for site mobility); ability to work outdoors and occasionally outside normal hours during peak seasons.Tools & Systems
