About the Role
Oversee the daily operations of the vehicle fleet, including scheduling and dispatching vehicles for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Coordination : Schedule regular maintenance and repairs for vehicles to ensure they remain safe and operational. Monitor service records and compliance with maintenance schedules.
- Inventory Management : Keep track of vehicle inventory, including acquisitions, disposals, and any modifications or upgrades to existing vehicles.
- Safety Compliance : Ensure that all vehicles meet safety regulations and standards set by local laws or industry requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections.
- Driver Management : Coordinate driver schedules, monitor driver behaviour (such as fuel efficiency), manage training programs, and maintain driver records such as licenses or certifications.
- Reporting & Analysis : Prepare reports on vehicle usage statistics, operational efficiency metrics (like fuel economy), accidents / incidents involving drivers / vehicles; analyse data to identify areas for improvement.
- Communication & Coordination : Serve as a point of contact between drivers / transportation personnel and management; communicate expectations clearly regarding performance standards.
- Policy Development : Help develop company policies regarding vehicle use (e.g., driving practices), accident procedures / training sessions on safe driving habits / etc., ensuring adherence among staff members who utilize fleets regularly.
Qualifications & Experience
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field.Experience : 1‑2 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, transportation, or a related field. Familiarity with fleet management software and GPS tracking systems. Experience with vehicle maintenance coordination, fuel management, route planning, and compliance.Technical Skills : Knowledge of fleet management systems (FMS). Experience with budgeting and cost control for fleet operations. Understanding of DOT regulations and local transportation laws.Organizational & Management Skills : Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Problem‑solving skills to handle vehicle breakdowns, driver issues, and operational delays. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Personal Attributes : High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and a customer‑obessed attitude.Job Details
