Job description

Qualification & Experience

  • Qualification : Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Chemical or Loss Prevention Engineering from a reputed university.
  • Experience : More than 10 years of experience in loss prevention engineering. Must have experience in Utilities (power & water) with required knowledge and background of design, inspection, erection & commissioning of Loss Prevention systems including evaluation and study of Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Fluent in English correspondence. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
  • Computer literate and presentation skill.
  • Requires mobile communication during normal and outside office hours for emergency contact.
  • Interview : Pass written assessment & interview conducted by Kahramaa.

Certification Requirements

  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist from NFPA.

    • Core Competencies

  • Experience in conceptual and detailed design of Fire Protection Systems in utilities Sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the underlying physical principles of fire and its related mechanisms.
  • Understanding of human behavior and the principles of means of egress design (i.e. Design approaches, tools and methods to perform egress, evacuation, and escape assessments).
  • Understanding of fire mitigation, including water- and non-water-based suppression; fire detection and alarm systems; smoke management systems; passive systems & fire testing.
  • Fire & Life Safety Risk Analysis Techniques (qualitative and quantitative).
  • Must be fully conversant to all local QCDD regulations, NFPA Codes & Standards and be an active registered member of NFPA. USA.
  • Good oral and written communications essential.
  • Strong team working ethic, enthusiastic and positive.
  • Expert in report writing.
  • MS Office proficiency.

    • Major Duties / Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections / audits of KAHRAMAA facilities (office buildings, warehouse, workshops, Substations, RPS & TFS etc.) & project construction sites.
  • Review life safety designs for new projects, and upgrade of existing facilities for compliance with KAHRAMAA and QCDD regulations & applicable NFPA standard.
  • Verification and approval of drawing submittals, site test reports, method statements, schematics, and spare parts.
  • Supervision of site activities for loss prevention related issues if required.
  • Witness all major pre commissioning & testing activities.
  • Co-ordination with consultants and contractors and KAHRAMAA departments for loss prevention related activities.
  • Conducts technical evaluation of all materials / equipment used for Loss Prevention Systems to ensure compliance to international standards and internal quality standards.
  • Ensure Loss prevention system construction and commissioning tests are carried out as per KAHRAMAA HSED specifications.
  • Reviews and comments on draft As-built drawings, Operation and Maintenance Manuals submitted by Contractors / Manufacturers.
  • Should have valid Qatar driving license.
