Diesel Mechanic (225-1010)

A Diesel Mechanic is a skilled professional tasked with maintaining, repairing, and overhauling diesel engines commonly found in vehicles such as buses, trucks, and construction machinery. This role is critical for ensuring the safety and efficiency of diesel-powered equipment through regular inspections, diagnostics, and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine maintenance checks and services on diesel engines and related parts.

Use diagnostic tools to accurately identify and troubleshoot engine faults.

Perform repairs and replace faulty components in diesel engine systems.

Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities conducted.

Check and maintain vehicle emissions to comply with environmental standards.

Inspect, test, and calibrate engine components to ensure optimal performance.

Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to complete complex repair jobs.

Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients regarding engine conditions.

Ensure that all repair and maintenance tasks are conducted safely and efficiently.

Stay informed about the latest developments in diesel technology and equipment.

Order and maintain inventory of necessary tools and replacement parts.

Offer emergency repair services both on-site and through roadside assistance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.

Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic in a similar environment.

Strong understanding of diesel engines, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and various mechanical equipment.

Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

Good physical condition and ability to perform labor-intensive tasks.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required.
