The Laboratory Manager will oversee the development, formulation, testing, and quality assurance of diesel engine oils and related lubricants. This role requires strong technical expertise in lubricant formulation, additive chemistry, API & OEM specifications, and hands‑on experience in Research & Development for engine oil performance enhancement. The manager will ensure product innovation, regulatory compliance, laboratory efficiency, and continuous improvement of lubricant product lines.
Research & Development :
- Develop, modify, and optimize formulations for diesel engine oils (CI-4, CK-4, CJ-4, FA-4, etc.) and related lubricant products.
- Conduct formulation trials using appropriate base oils and additive packages.
- Lead R&D projects aimed at improving fuel efficiency, engine protection, and long‑drain performance.
Laboratory Management :
Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, equipment calibration, and workflow scheduling.Ensure laboratory compliance with ISO standards and safety practices.Maintain accurate test records, formulation logs, and technical documentation.Quality Control & Technical Support :
Oversee incoming raw material testing and finished product QC to ensure conformity to API, SAE, and OEM specifications.Troubleshoot product performance issues and provide technical support to production and sales teams.Conduct root‑cause analysis for quality deviations and implement corrective actions.Industry Compliance & Certifications :
Ensure formulations meet API, ACEA, ASTM, SAE, and leading OEM requirements (Cummins, Volvo, Mercedes, Caterpillar, etc.).Liaise with additive suppliers and external labs for product approvals and certifications.Supervise lab technicians and chemists, provide training, and ensure competency development.Coordinate cross‑functional communication with production, procurement, and commercial teams.Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, or related field.Minimum 5–8 years of experience in lubricant formulation, particularly diesel engine oils .Proven knowledge of additive chemistry , base oil groups (I–V) , and lubricant performance requirements.Experience working with ASTM / ISO laboratory test methods and analytical instruments (e.g., KV Baths, Viscometer, Flash Point Analyzer, FTIR, TGA, ICP, etc.).Strong understanding of API, ACEA, SAE J300, OEM lubrication standards.Project management and team leadership experience preferred.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Excellent communication and reporting skills.Innovation‑oriented mindset with practical application capability.Seniority level
