JOB SUMMARY :
The Lead Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the maintenance team. Assures that all facilities systems that support patient care are available, running and meet appropriate codes.Improves and supports the site maintenance team, including hands on support as necessary. Prioritizes the importance of maintenance issues and evaluates situations. Ensures that all site utilities related services (plant equipment, compressors, generators, HVAC, chiller, boilers, drainage etc.) are maintained in a timely manner and to quality standards. Ensures necessary records and documents are in place for all required audits. Manages contractors on site ensuring all work permits are issued when required. Attends maintenance and engineering activities with other departments, attends staff meetings, as well as safety and other meetings. The Lead Engineer works to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and increase work productivity. Oversees subordinate engineers to assign engineering tasks, review and evaluate their quality and timeliness of work, encourages critical and innovative thinking, provides preliminary evaluations for Change Requests and response to emergent O&M needs.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES :
This role is crucial in responding to infrastructure issues including electricity, water, HVAC as well as specialty systems (medical gases, AGV, PTS, waste processing, laundry, etc.). Failure to rectify situations in a prompt and correct manner could jeopardize patient care.
Oversight of SLA contractor to protect Sidra’s interests and to assure good quality work and prompt response.
Oversight of all regulatory testing to assure it is done on-time and to established quality levels (Air quality, water quality, emergency generator, piped medical gas system, elevator, etc. testing).
Prioritizes maintenance activities.
Ensures the maintenance activities are timely and cost efficient.
Ensures the PPM schedule is carried out on time.
Ensures that equipment is performing effectively and efficiently.
Ensures necessary records and documents are in place.
Provides technical support and breakdown investigation reports.
Reviews change / modification to pre-work request.
Ensures that critical spare parts are available.
Ensures that spare parts / tools are updated and available.
Ensures activity carried out safely.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS :

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in a relevant field
Current trade certification
Experience
8+ years’ experience in systems and equipment at similar Facilities, 5+ years of which should be in the healthcare environment as maintenance management function
Experienced in the application of HTM and appropriate ruling standards applied to the Facility
Experienced in CAFM & CMMS systems and their use in support of wider management information
Experience of work upon a project of similar technical complexity as the Sidra Facility
Experience of ISO standards methodologies
Experience of recognized healthcare accreditation systems
Certification and Licensure
Relevant professional facilities management / engineering association membership
Licensed professional engineer
Relevant facilities engineering certification in country of origin
