Position Overview
The Lead Construction Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all on‑site construction activities including structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation works for offshore EPC projects. The role ensures that fabrication, assembly, load‑out, and offshore installation works are executed safely, within schedule, and according to project specifications and quality standards.
This position reports to the Construction Manager and serves as the focal point between the site execution team, engineering, quality, and HSE departments, both onshore and offshore.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee day‑to‑day construction activities at the fabrication yard and offshore sites.
Ensure all work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, and method statements.Coordinate with discipline supervisors (structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure smooth progress and adherence to construction sequences.Supervise offshore installation and hook‑up works, ensuring readiness of materials, manpower, and equipment.Review and verify installation reports, daily progress logs, and as‑built mark‑ups.Safety & Quality ComplianceEnforce strict adherence to HSE procedures, ensuring zero‑incident operations.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety inspections, and ensure crew participation in daily HSE briefings.Coordinate with QA / QC to ensure inspection and test activities are completed as per ITP and inspection schedule.Ensure proper handover of completed works with inspection records and punch lists closed.Planning & CoordinationReview and align construction schedule with planning team; provide daily and weekly progress updates.
Identify potential bottlenecks and coordinate with engineering and procurement to resolve field issues.Ensure optimal allocation of resources and efficient sequencing of work fronts.Liaise with subcontractors, yard teams, and offshore supervisors for daily coordination and interface meetings.Offshore Readiness & ExecutionEnsure readiness for offshore mobilization, including verification of work packs, materials, and permits.
Coordinate with marine and logistics teams for vessel loading, equipment transport, and personnel transfers.Support offshore execution team in installation, hook‑up, and commissioning activities.Ensure completion of red‑line drawings, weld maps, and hydrotest documentation for as‑built handover.Supervise a team of construction supervisors, foremen, and skilled workers across multiple trades.Maintain discipline and high morale, ensuring compliance with company policies and site procedures.Prepare daily progress reports, highlight key risks, and report deviations to the Construction Manager.Participate in constructability reviews and lessons‑learned sessions for continuous improvement.Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Civil / Electrical / Instrumentation).Minimum 10 years of construction experience in EPC oil & gas projects, with at least 3 years offshore.Proven experience supervising multi‑discipline construction teams at fabrication yards and offshore sites.Strong understanding of offshore installation methods, heavy lifting operations, and construction sequencing.Familiar with QatarEnergy / ADNOC / ARAMCO specifications and project standards.Excellent knowledge of construction codes and standards (API, ASME, AWS, NORSOK, ISO).Proficiency in MS Office, progress tracking tools, and familiarity with permit‑to‑work systems.Fluent in English; strong communication and leadership skills.Preferred Certifications
BOSIET / HUET / H2S (mandatory for offshore assignment).ISO 9001 & ISO 45001 awareness training.Rigging and lifting supervision certification (preferred).Basic First Aid and Firefighting certificates.Strong leadership and team supervision.Deep understanding of offshore construction safety requirements.Technical competence in structural, piping, mechanical, and E&I activities.Effective coordination and problem‑solving skills.Commitment to schedule adherence and quality control.Seniority level
