Overview
The Fire Fighting System Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and other related equipment. The technician ensures that all systems are functioning properly and in compliance, state, and federal fire safety regulations.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Install fire protection systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, fire pumps, suppression systems) according to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards
- Perform wiring and connection of fire alarm control panels, detectors, and other components
- Inspect fire protection systems regularly for proper functioning and compliance
- Perform functional tests on alarms / sprinklers / other equipment, document results, recommend corrective actions as needed
- Test and calibrate fire detection systems and equipment per manufacturer's specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on fire systems (replace batteries, check water pressure, inspect electrical connections)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot fire protection system issues; repair / replace faulty components
- Complete repairs and maintenance efficiently and timely
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs
- Ensure compliance with fire codes, standards, regulations, NFPA standards
- Advise on upgrades or replacements for compliance
- Communicate with clients about inspection findings, maintenance needs, solutions
- Supervise assistants or trainees as needed
- Knowledge of fire safety codes, NFPA standards, regulations
- Proficient use of tools and equipment for installing / maintaining fire protection systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, manufacturer instructions
- Timely completion of maintenance activities
- Training Certificate on Fire Extinguisher Service is mandatory
- Skilled in maintenance and fault rectification
- 4–5 years’ experience in the same field
- Experience in Hose Reel, Fire Extinguisher, SCBA Inspection & Maintenance
- Candidate must be capable to pass the PTW exam
Qualification
ITI / ITC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 years of work experience in installation, servicing, and maintenance of Fire Alarm systemsGCC experience is mandatoryOperational Reporting
