Overview
The Forward Maintenance Manager holds the relevant maintenance authority for their areas of responsibility. They report to the Senior Maintenance Manager and are charged with ensuring compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements, leading and coordinating all maintenance activities within their control.
Areas of Responsibility
- Performance Indicators – Set delivery targets, monitor progress and develop performance improvement programmes. Manage escalation of issues impacting Continuing Airworthiness.
- Completion of Activities – Ensure all Part 145 activities are documented, records maintained, and performed by qualified personnel. Lead integration of Part 145 into business processes and stakeholder engagement.
- Procedure / Standards – Lead compliance with Part 145 Exposition, associated procedures and standards, and any company procedures.
- Safety Management System – Apply Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management and Safety Assurance. Analyse, mitigate and manage hazards.
- Management System Assurance – Ensure Part 145 activities comply with the AM&S Governance and Assurance framework; support audit findings and implement improvements.
- Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative Requirements – Demonstrate detailed understanding of continuing airworthiness regulations; implement regulatory changes such as ITAR, EaPW, ISO.
- Contractual Requirements – Lead compliance with all applicable contractual obligations and communicate changes to Part 145 activities.
Core Activities
Ensure all maintenance is carried out in accordance with the Statement of Work and AMC documentation set defined in the Maintenance Organisation Exposition.Maintain schedule adherence to the Maintenance Plan and provide short‑ to medium‑term progress reporting to the Maintenance Manager.Governance – Report non‑compliances and their impact to the Maintenance Manager.Shift and resource planning – Ensure delivery targets are met under regulatory requirements.Leadership – Provide assessment, communication and people‑management support to Team Leaders; maintain task authorisations and currency records.Safety – Assess the impact of maintenance activity on Service Safety Hazards.Facilities – Ensure appropriate maintenance facilities (Hangar, Workshop, Office, Storage) are kept in good condition.Hazard communication – Notify Safety and Compliance Manager of any changes required to the Exposition.Key Accountabilities

Possess a Letter of Delegation from Head of Aircraft Maintenance for delivery of the Maintenance Service.Ensure all maintenance follows the Statement of Work and AMC documentation.Accountable for service delivery, schedule adherence, and progress reporting to Head of Aircraft Maintenance.Discharge governance for compliance with Maintenance Organisation Exposition and associated AMCs.Plan shift and resources to meet delivery targets under regulatory framework.Lead and assess team members, maintain authorisations and currency records.Manage impact on Service Safety Hazard.Ensure appropriate facilities are maintained.Inform Head of Aircraft Maintenance of flight safety hazards.Notify Part 145 Regulatory Approval Manager of Exposition changes.Conduct interviews for staff certification and signing off applications.Functional Competence & Capability

Qualifications
Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (City & Guilds 2675 or 2661) or equivalent.Ideally qualified in Aeronautical Engineering.Alternatively, a recognised Engineering Degree in one of the following disciplines :Aeronautical Engineering
Mechanical EngineeringElectrical EngineeringElectronic EngineeringAvionic EngineeringAny other field relevant to aircraft maintenance and continuing airworthiness.Experience
