Position at Al Jazeera Media Network Senior Producer - The Stream

The Stream is Al Jazeera Media Networks award winning show where some of the most interesting current affairs discussions take place whilst addressing issues which are debated and dissected through a online discussion bringing audiences a fresh perspectives.

The Stream are currently on the look out for a Senior Producer who is well versed in current affairs programs, as the Senior Producer you will work with a team of Producers in planning and producing episodes for the The Stream taking live shows to air as well as overseeing daily digital content for the show’s online presence.

The successful candidate leads the production team; is experienced in a control room; knows how to build the rundown, making the most of video, graphical and social media elements. They must also be experienced in online journalism and sourcing stories from social media.As The Senior Producer you will work closely with the Executive Producer to set the editorial / creative direction for the series overseeing special projects and field assignments for the show.

Specific Responsibilities :

• This position requires excellent writing skills with a thorough understanding of news and current affairs.
• Responsible for special editions of The Stream and field assignments
• Works with the Executive Producer to set the creative / editorial direction for the show
• Produces individual episodes of The Stream and leads the gallery team during live broadcast
• Responsible for continuous innovation in the digital space, using new ways to story-tell, promote content and engage with the community.
• Remain up to date with the latest tech developments.
• Knowledge of social analytics tools and ability to convey analytics and place in appropriate context
• Edit web content
• Engage with The Stream’s social media community of more than one million combined user
• Coach and mentor Producers, Associate Producers and Interns who work on The Stream.
