Responsibilities

  • As Tailor you will be responsible to custom tailor each item to the specification of the individual customer in a friendly professional manner; alter; repair and create clothing according to customers' personal needs.
  • Provide a friendly professional customised tailoring service to each individual customer needs.
  • Provide and maintain the highest standard of guest care and service.
  • Alter garments and joins parts, using needle and thread or sewing machine, to form finished garment. Complete alterations in a timely manner to ensure delivery to customer on time.
  • Draw individual patterns or alter existing pattern to fit customer's measurements.
  • Sew buttons and buttonholes to finish garment.
  • Press garment, using hand iron or pressing machine.
  • Confer with customer to determine type of material and garment style desired.
  • Position pattern of garment parts on fabric, and cut fabric along outlines, using scissors.
  • Measure customer for size, using tape measure and record measurements.
  • Fit basted garment on customer and mark areas requiring alterations.
  • Assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches, using needle and thread or sewing machine.
  • Press finished goods and remove chalk marks so that garment is ready to wear for the customer at pickup.
  • Maintain the sewing machines and equipment in good order.
  • Maintain sewing area in a clean and tidy state at all times.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of all sewing items and liaise with the Customer Service Manager regarding the ordering of replacement supplies.
  • Perform other department duties related to the position as directed by the Head of the Department.

    • Qualifications

  • Knowledge of fabric limitations and standard tailoring concepts, procedures, and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to sew garments with needle and thread and by machine.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce professional finished goods for upscale garments.
  • Ability to take measurements to ensure proper measurements.
  • Ability to complete daily assignments, meet deadlines with accuracy, and demonstrate a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to read and understand doents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
