Job Purpose
The position is responsible for managing site supervision of all instrument and electrical project works for both online and shutdown projects. The candidate shall follow up on the Instrument & Electrical erection and installation works on site to ensure correct installation according to approved Construction Drawings, verify their status according to schedules, and identify & follow up on corrective / recovery actions.
These project types may range from minor field or system-related tasks to major multi-discipline projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for the progress of all field / construction activities.
- Assist in following up with contractors and subcontractors in the Instrument & Electrical discipline scope during construction phases to assure quality, environmental, health, and safety aspects of the work.
- Participate in safety walks and quality surveillance activities, prepare reports, and follow up on the closure of all identified actions.
- Responsible for the progress of all construction activities within the Instrument & Electrical discipline.
- Prepare and follow up with the contractor(s) / sub-contractor(s) on pre-commissioning and commissioning activities; planning and execution to ensure that day-to-day commissioning activities are executed safely and prepare for & participate in pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
- Prepare field progress reports and identify and correct contractual non-conformities.
- Prepare and report on KPIs for construction activities.
- Ensure that all activities and works in the area of responsibility are done in full compliance with the HSE requirements of QAFCO and the relevant authorities.
Desired Candidate Profile
The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Instrument / Electronic / Control Engineering.Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Fertilizer, Oil & Gas, or Petrochemical industry.The candidate shall have proven project experience in managing works related to field instrumentation, process control and safety shutdown systems, rotating machinery instrumentation & controls, process gas analyzers, and experience in switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, UPS, PLCs, distribution boards, control panels, relays, electrical systems of elevators / lifts, EOT cranes, motors, cables, earthing, fire and gas alarm & siren systems, public address systems, IP-based audio / video systems, data system & telephone system requirements, CCTV systems, and connectivity of electrical / instrument systems, lighting & power distribution, electrical & instrument systems of HVAC and their interfaces, evaluation of bids and contracts, etc.Work experience engaging with project teams for pre-construction reviews and preparation, experience in reviewing technical documents / drawings, preparing job safety analyses, method statements, schedules, conducting reviews for QA / QC, safety, health and environment, toolbox meetings compliance during site execution, preparation and execution of installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing activities, livening up of power, inter-discipline communication and coordination, lockout / tagout during job execution, red mark-ups, planning, scheduling, and progress reporting are preferred requirements for this position.The candidate shall have sound knowledge and application of network architecture, communication protocols, media and accessories (TCP / IP, Modbus, Ethernet, fiber optic, network switches, etc.), hazardous area standards (NEC / IEC / ATEX), work permit systems, enclosure protection standards (NEMA / IEC), safety standards, document standards, environmental standards, and various international standards like IEC / ANSI / ISA / EEMUA, etc., applicable to the instrument discipline.Must display a very high awareness and knowledge of safety procedures for working in live plants.Ability to operate standard PC applications.
