Dean, College of Engineering and Technology

University of Doha for Science & Technology (UDST) invites applications for the position of Dean, College of Engineering and Technology. UDST is the first national applied university in the State of Qatar, offering applied bachelor and master degrees, certificates and diplomas in engineering technology, industrial trades, business management, computing and information technology, health sciences, and continuing and professional education.

Overview

With more than 700 staff and over 8,000 students, UDST is a destination for top‑notch applied and experiential learning. The University is recognized for its student‑centered learning and state‑of‑the‑art facilities. Faculty and staff deliver pedagogically‑sound experiences that develop graduates who can contribute to a knowledge‑based economy and realise Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

Responsibilities

The Dean reports to the Vice President, Academics and is a key strategic leader of the College. Responsibilities include :

  • Developing and implementing the strategic vision and academic leadership of the College to ensure successful performance and achievement of objectives.
  • Overseeing academic, administrative and financial matters within the College, providing leadership and direction to faculty and staff.
  • Leading the development of business plans, operational procedures and guidelines to achieve excellence in teaching, learning, research and community service.
  • Managing faculty and staff effectively, promoting student events and extracurricular activities.
  • Driving curriculum and program review, maintaining accreditations and exploring articulation agreements.
  • Building positive relationships with external stakeholders, national and international partners.
  • Promoting educational and industry partnerships to support current programming and advance future College programmes.

Qualifications

Earned PhD in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognised, accredited institution and should demonstrate evidence of scholarly, professional and creative achievement sufficient to qualify at the rank of full Professor.

Experience

Academic Experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of full‑time academic experience in an internationally recognised institution, with a record of successful participation / leadership in applied research projects.

    • Industry Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of employment experience as a professional within the relevant discipline.

    • Preferred Experience

  • Strong knowledge and substantial experience with the development, delivery, evaluation and program accreditation of university programmes.
  • Record of successful participation and leadership in applied research projects.
  • Experience in leadership and innovation in technology‑based projects.

    • Other Required Skills

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Demonstrated record of collaborative decision‑making.
  • Collaborative and collegial spirit and ability to establish rapport with learners, colleagues, sponsor‑employers and community members.

    • Language

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is preferred.
