Plant QA / QC Engineer vacancy in Umm-Salal, Qatar. The employer is seeking an experienced professional with strong QA / QC and inspection background in Offshore and Onshore Oil & Gas projects.
Qualifications
- Degree in Metallurgical Engineering (or Mechanical Engineering with good knowledge of Metallurgy). Completed formal education in a professional college leading to an Engineering degree.
- NDT Level-II (RT, UT, PT, MT), Certified Lead Auditor Qualification and Welding professional qualification (EWI / IIW or CSWIP or AWS / API). Additional qualifications in Welding & Materials fields are desirable. Certifications from reputed agencies in painting and Vessel / Piping inspection or other relevant subjects are advantageous.
- Minimum 12 to 15 years of experience with Inspection & QA / QC activities in Offshore and Onshore Oil & Gas Industries, with experience in :
- Engineering Inspection & Testing of Pressure Retaining Equipment including Pressure Vessels and Piping.
- Familiarity with all QA / QC aspects, Welding, Metallurgy, Materials, Failure analysis and multidiscipline inspection NDT activities in projects.
- Skilled in various Welding processes and experienced in troubleshooting welding defects and alternate methods.
- Preparation or review of QA / QC documentation, WPS / PQR, NDT procedures, etc.
- Experience in operating Petrochemical / Oil & Gas plants (preferred) or in Fabrication Shop / Erection sites for Oil & Gas Projects; at least 5 years in a lead / supervisory position.
- Good knowledge of international codes, standards and specifications and reputed Oil & Gas sector company practices / project specifications.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing related to plates, pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, columns, tanks, structural items.
- Experience in QA / QC activities for material procurement, including Purchase Requisition review, Technical Bid Evaluation, pre-inspection meetings, and coordination for third-party inspection (TPI) at vendor sites.
- Experience in qualification assessment of manufacturers / vendors / contractors including site verification and technical audits; managing assessment and approval processes in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.
- Very good verbal and written English communication skills; ability to prepare technical reports and initiate / process NCRs and Quality Alerts.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, etc.
Responsibilities
Undertake evaluation and calculations to provide competent technical reviews, audits, and advice for QA / QC inspection activities.Review Purchase Requisitions (PR) initiated by End Users for pressure-retaining equipment, parts and spares; ensure descriptions, drawings, specifications and codes are correct.Evaluate technical bids for pressure-retaining equipment and related activities; provide comments / reports as applicable.Maintain systematic records of review comments on PRs and Technical Bid Evaluations for documentation and retrieval.Provide assistance for QA / QC matters related to procurement of materials and equipment.Prepare inspection reports as required and communicate any issues; day-to-day use of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential; working knowledge of SAP is preferred.Maintain confidentiality of data and documents as per COMPANY requirements and procedures.Review and comment on vendor QA / QC documentation related to materials and fabrication; assist in scope of work, contracts and purchase orders from Quality / Certification and final documentation perspectives.Conduct evaluation of Contractors and Subcontractors and provide recommendations.Review Contractor documentation (Quality plans, Inspection & Test plans, QA / QC procedures, WPS, Welder qualifications, Operating Procedures, Method Statements, etc.) for modifications, repairs or maintenance projects.Prepare QA / QC procedures and documents for repairs / modifications and replacements.Plan and conduct periodic audits of suppliers and contractors’ Quality Management and control systems; provide technical evaluations.Supervise QA / QC Inspectors and perform supervisory duties at the level established for the position.Provide and supervise QA / QC activities (Welding / PMI / painting / NDT / hydrostatic testing, etc.) as per specifications and contract requirements for maintenance activities on COMPANY equipment or facilities, at COMPANY sites or contractor premises.Undertake additional specific inspection-related duties as directed by Supervisor.Contact
