Summary As a Senior Consultant in Cardiology, you will be among the most experienced physicians in the department, responsible for providing expert clinical care, guiding complex cardiac interventions, and supporting the development of junior consultants and trainees. You will lead the service in clinical excellence, contribute to strategic planning, and champion quality improvement and academic growth. In addition to hands‑on patient care, you will oversee advanced cardiac procedures, mentor medical teams, and drive research and innovation to advance cardiovascular services at HMC. Education / Qualifications Required

Basic medical degree from recognized institution

Post‑qualification certification

Qualification Source from : North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.

USA : American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) – Cardiology

Canada : Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) – Cardiology

UK & Ireland : CCT in Orthopedic Medicine and GMC Specialist Register

Australia & New Zealand : Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) – Cardiology

Western Europe : Equivalent board certification

License

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Responsibilities / Duties

Lead the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of complex cardiac conditions, including advanced heart failure, transplant assessment, arrhythmias, and interventional cardiology cases.

Perform and oversee complex cardiac procedures and interventions, ensuring safe and effective practices during high‑risk treatments (e.g., cardiac catheterization, device implantation, electrophysiological studies).

Supervise and train junior consultants, residents, and nursing staff in clinical care, procedural techniques, and ongoing professional development.

Champion multidisciplinary teamwork, collaborating with surgical, critical care, and allied health colleagues to optimize patient outcomes in all cardiac care settings.

Lead and participate in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and accreditation activities, implementing initiatives based on international best practices and Joint Commission standards.

Contribute to the hospital’s research mission, driving clinical investigations, publishing in peer‑reviewed journals, and presenting at scientific meetings.

Serve on hospital and departmental committees, contributing to strategic planning, protocol development, and organizational policy improvement.

Maintain patient confidentiality, adhere to ethical medical practice, and comply with HMC regulations, Qatari law, and all required reporting and documentation standards.

Facilitate advanced cardiac fellowship programs and continuing medical education for the department.

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams regarding care plans, test results, and complex conditions.

Act as a subject matter expert and resource for complex case review and difficult decision‑making processes within cardiology.

Represent HMC in collaborations and public health initiatives both locally and internationally.
