Overview

The Family / Urgent Care Practitioner Physician is responsible to provide primary healthcare to patients of all ages. They treat acute and chronic conditions evaluate symptoms offer preventative care and determine the need for specialists. The Family Practitioner Physician plays a central role in the delivery of patient care as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out immediate evaluation and management of emergent or urgent patients that present to the clinic.
  • Examine and diagnose patients for illness and injury.
  • Establish a Primary Care Clinic and provide routine care for chronic health conditions.
  • Perform medical examinations to establish health status baseline.
  • Prescribe and administer medication treatment and therapies.
  • Order perform interpret test results and analyse records and reports.
  • Formulate treatment plans.
  • Provide followup care for patients as needed.
  • Collect record and maintain accurate patient health information and histories.
  • Refer patients to specialists when required.
  • Coordinate healthcare plan with nurses social workers and other healthcare workers.
  • Liaise with other medical staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Ensures that all medical records are meticulously and accurately maintained.
  • Provision of clinical reporting to the DCMO.
  • Support clinical mentoring for staff development.
  • Ensure best practice in line with clinical guidelines and SOPs.
  • Support the clinical excellence framework under direction from the DCMO.
  • Provide liaison with external agencies where required to promote chain of care continuity and professional referral / patient handover.
  • Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
  • Performance of other duties as assigned.

Education and Certification

  • Graduated from an approved medical school and completed a residency or fellowship as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Osteopathy (D.O.) from a school approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation.
  • Family Medicine Board Certification or Equivalent.
  • Current and unrestricted license from any US State District of Columbia US Territory or Country of Record to provide healthcare within scope of practice.
  • Obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is strongly preferred.
  • DEA number or Equivalent is preferred.
  • Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of three (3) years postboard certification or 3 years post completion of specialty training where board certification is not available.
  • Experience with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and adult patients in an emergency or urgent care environment.
  • Ability to assess and accurately diagnose pediatric and adult patients including obstetrics and gynecological patients.
  • Ability to make quick medical treatment and care plans and decisions.
  • Ability to provide followup care for patients.
  • Comprehensive wound care, laceration repairs, and abscess management.
  • Accurate detailed patient charting and EMR proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Additional Qualifications

  • Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • Must be able to relocate to Qatar and obtain a base security clearance.
  • A valid passport from Country of Record is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. Maintain a current passport during your stay in Qatar.
