Environmental Specialist

Qualification & Experience Qualification : Bachelor’s degree in environmental science / engineering or Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil or mechanical engineering or chemical / biological science with environmental experiences

Experience : More than 10 years of experience in Environmental management and leadership responsibility in a large organization with 4+ years of supervisory experience preferably in a large utility company

Fluent in English correspondence. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage

Computer literate and presentation skill

Requires mobile communication during normal and outside office hours for emergency contact

Skills Major Duties / Responsibilities Ensures effective development, implementation and full compliance with regulations, environmental strategies, auditing systems, policies, objectives

and procedures.

Develops and reviews environmental specifications and criteria in the design phases of projects assigned

Oversees and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Management Systems & Programs (EMS&P) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)

Conduct, prepare and review environmental studies and reports (e.g., assessments, audits, monitoring, investigation, etc.) to internal stakeholders

and government entities.

Assesses environmental impact of the projects / activities undertaken by Kahramaa and its facilities.

Conduct internal audits, site inspections, and compliance reviews to ensure proactive identification and mitigation of environmental impacts and risks.

Coordinate with competent authorities to fulfil environmental assessment and permitting requirements and secure environmental permits and approvals

ensure adherence of the projects / activities / facilities to all permit conditions and requirements.

Monitor environmental KPIs, including waste management, energy consumption, water use, and emissions. Recommend corrective actions where

performance is below target.

Implementation of Kahramaa’s Environmental database program, including data collection, verification, validation, assessment and reporting processes.

Collects environmental samples from ambient, sources and sites including contaminated / suspected contaminated sites (e.g. soil, eater, etc.) and

delivered the samples for analysis and prepare the analysis and assessment reports.

Support sustainable project development by reviewing designs and operations for environmental impact and sustainability and contributing to greener alternatives

Proposes plans to curb factors that may act as obstacles in achieving environmental sustainability through the services provided by Kahramaa

Conducts environmental workshops and ensures development and maintenance of environmental risk registers

Delivers awareness and training programs to employees, contractors, and stakeholders related to environmental management, sustainability goals,

carbon awareness, hazardous materials and waste, thus educating them and spreading environmental awareness and knowledge amongst them.

Mentors and provides technical advice to graduates, design and project engineers, technicians and technical specialists, on environmental aspects

Ensures maintenance of accurate records related to chemical inventories, complaint investigations and shipment of hazardous waste

Works in cooperation with Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement department on securing and maintaining the ISO certification
