Paramedic (Doha)

Overview

The Paramedic utilizes their expertise and evidence-based practice to manage unexpected and emergent situations to mitigate and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner. The Paramedic assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating direct and indirect clinical care and competently functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing patient and community-centered care. The Paramedic serves as an advocate for the patient and their family and intercedes on their behalf by acting as a liaison with respect to their rights and beliefs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide coverage including shift rotations or on-call to assure Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response capability for the CARE Doha compound 24 hours 7 days.
• Provide services required that may range from simple transport between housing and clinic for a medically fragile individual to Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to life-threatening trauma care.
• Responsible for communication with the receiving Emergency Department and at the gate for local ambulance transfers.
• Operate the on-compound ambulances.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diversity.
• Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
• Assessment and documentation of the patient's vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications.
• Establish observable and documentable patient goals using care plans within protocols.
• Report all changes in patients conditions to the medical provider.
• Proactively and independently administer basic care including but not limited to inserting catheters with blood specimen collection, urine collection and EKGs, visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
• Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living as needed.
• Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
• Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies.
• Restocking clinical and provider areas once supplies are received.
• Crosstrain to work within in the clinics emergency room and inpatient units.
• Participate in mass-casualty drills twice a year and remain available for on-call coverage.
• Participate in exercises and assist in protocol development.
• Complete required organizational compliance education including assigned requirements that are client-specified for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Minimum of three (3) years of paramedic experience.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
