Role Overview
A highly experienced Diving Superintendent is required to lead and manage offshore diving operations supporting subsea installation and construction activities for major offshore oil & gas projects. The successful candidate will oversee diving contractor operations onboard the Dive Support Vessel (DSV), ensuring full compliance with project scope, safety standards, and international diving regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full accountability for all diving activities and vessel deployment during offshore operations.
- Review, comment, and approve contractor dive plans, procedures, method statements, and work instructions.
- Ensure diving operations are executed safely and in full compliance with scope, engineering standards, international diving codes, and IMCA guidelines.
- Monitor and supervise all diving activities onboard the Dive Support Vessel, acting as primary client representative offshore.
- Coordinate dive vessel inspections, IMCA audits, diving spread mobilisations, punch list close-outs, and certifications to ensure full readiness.
- Issue comprehensive Daily Progress Reports (DPR) highlighting activities, concerns, and recommended mitigations.
- Conduct and participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Management of Change (MOC) discussions.
- Proactively report and address Hazard Observations, Unsafe Acts / Conditions, Near Misses, and Incidents.
- Act as the point of decision-making for operational project issues offshore, in line with project contracts, procedures, and management directives.
- Maintain strict adherence to site safety, statutory, and environmental regulations during diving and construction activities in live plant conditions.
- Effectively manage multinational, multidisciplinary offshore teams, ensuring productive working relationships between client and contractor teams.
Key Qualifications
Higher National Certificate (HNC), Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field. (Diploma not mandatory with valid diving certifications.)Valid certifications (any of the following highly preferred) :IMCA Closed Bell Diver
IMCA Air Diving SupervisorIMCA Bell / Saturation Diving Supervisor (Class III)NDT Operator Level-2 (Optional)Experience
10 to 15 years offshore construction, subsea installation, and diving operations experience, with at least 8 years in the oil & gas sector.Proven hands-on offshore experience as Air Diving Supervisor and Saturation Diving Supervisor.Prior experience as Diving Representative is highly desirable.Broad experience across :Boat landing replacements
Riser, J-tube and subsea spool tie-insUmbilical installation (including I-Tubes)Water jetting, debris / marine growth removalSpool and PLEM tie-ins with ROV operationsPipelay, jacket installations, and subsea asset decommissioning / removalsSkills & Attributes
