Plant Supervisor / Operations Manager Job Purpose
The Sewage Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment and processes at the sewage treatment facility to ensure efficient wastewater treatment in compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. Responsibilities
Operation & Monitoring
— Operate pumps, blowers, mixers, valves, and other plant equipment; monitor plant operations through SCADA systems, meters, gauges, and laboratory tests; record operational data and prepare daily reports. Maintenance & Housekeeping
— Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment; identify and report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns for repair; maintain cleanliness and safety of the plant premises. Water Quality Control
— Collect water and sludge samples for laboratory testing; monitor and adjust chemical dosing (e.g., chlorine, coagulants) as required; ensure treated water meets regulatory quality standards. Compliance & Safety
— Follow all safety protocols, wearing required PPE at all times; ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies; report any incidents, safety hazards, or non-compliance issues immediately. Record Keeping & Reporting
— Maintain accurate logs of plant operations, maintenance activities, and incidents; prepare and submit operational reports to the supervisor. Emergency Response
— Respond promptly to alarms, breakdowns, and emergency situations; implement contingency measures to minimize downtime and environmental impact. Qualifications & Experience
Education :
Diploma / Certificate in Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience :
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in operating sewage or wastewater treatment plants. Skills & Knowledge :
Understanding of wastewater treatment processes (primary, secondary, tertiary); familiarity with pumps, motors, valves, blowers, and SCADA systems; ability to conduct basic laboratory tests for water quality; knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations; attention to detail and accuracy in monitoring operations; problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment; good communication and reporting skills; physically fit and able to work in varying environmental conditions. Working Conditions
Shift-based work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required. Exposure to odors, noise, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in operational areas.
