Associate Professor of Modern Gulf History

JOB DESCRIPTION The Gulf Studies Program is seeking a Full Associate Professor who is motivated to teach and develop graduate courses in the field of Modern History of the Gulf as part of the Gulf Studies graduate program Candidate should have strong teaching and research interests in Modern and Contemporary History and all related topics with emphasis on the Gulf region Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses contributing to the program curriculum supervising graduate student research and contributing to the research portfolio of the Center as well as the College Candidates must demonstrate effectiveness in the following categories teaching academic advising and program development scholarly research professional or creative activities and institutional community service Duties Responsibilities 1 Teach courses and supervise students in the area of Modern Gulf History 2 Contribute to various committees at the Program College and University level 3 Contribute to the research profile of College through research publications in Arabic and English 4 Provide advice support and supervise students research and thesis 5 Active participation in the program and college activities and committees 6 Offer significant input into the further development of Gulf Program and Research Center 7 Provide service to the profession University the community and the State of Qatar 8 Perform other academic duties in accordance with Qatar University academic bylaws Qualifications Qualifications 1 A Ph D in a relevant field such as Modern and Contemporary History or the History of the Modern Gulf 2 Excellent written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English required 3 Proven record of previous supervision of graduate theses and dissertation 4 Strong peer reviewed publication record 5 Teaching experience at postgraduate level 6 Familiarity with educational technologies used in higher education sector 7 Willingness to work with teams 8 Awareness of working with people from diverse backgrounds You will be redirected to the company website to apply for this position
