Job Purpose

This position supports the Facilities Lead within the Phase 4 Integrated Development Engineering Group (P4-IDEG) and is responsible for all pipeline and subsea interconnection studies during the Screening, Conceptual, and Pre-FEED stages of development.

Key responsibilities include planning, execution, and oversight of pipeline engineering, incorporating innovative technologies and efficient design practices to ensure fit-for-purpose, cost-optimized pipeline / flexible / cable systems—while maintaining the highest safety standards.

The Pipeline Engineer will also support internal management, stage-gate processes, and external stakeholder engagement activities.

Key Accountabilities

Support technical studies for all pipeline and subsea interconnection scopes.

Lead and oversee engineering studies, including outsourced scopes.

Act as the pipeline focal point across teams and functions.

Participate in all stages of development and interface with internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare documentation and technical inputs for workshops, reviews, and validation processes.

Promote engineering innovation focused on operational efficiency and CAPEX / OPEX optimization.

Work autonomously in a dynamic, high-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Contribute to cross-functional project collaboration with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Main Activities

Technical & Engineering Duties

Ensure adherence to all relevant industry and internal HSE standards in development studies.

Advance evaluation of pipeline / flexible / cable technologies, including routing, coatings, and crossing designs.

Screen and shortlist optimized technical options for progression into Conceptual and Pre-FEED phases.

Coordinate with technology providers to assess feasibility, delivery, and performance.

Manage outsourced engineering scopes, including scope of work (SOW) preparation, reviews, and deliverable tracking.

Provide engineering input to support cost estimation in each project phase.

Proactively propose technical solutions to optimize project CAPEX.

Interface with related technical entities (e.g., geomatics, geotechnical, corrosion, structural, process, and construction).

Support pipeline execution planning, including constructability assessments.

Prepare and manage technical derogations when deviations from internal standards are required.

Identify technical risks and integrate mitigation strategies into project designs and risk registers.

Project Support

Participate in technical, vendor, and project review meetings.

Contribute to safety engineering and operational risk assessments.

Support preparation of presentations and materials for internal stage gates and stakeholder engagements.

Collaborate with sub-teams within the IDEG to contribute to continuous improvement across the department.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred)

Experience : Minimum 15 years in pipeline engineering within the oil and gas industry

Strong background in offshore pipeline / flexible / cable engineering

Comprehensive knowledge of pipeline technologies, project execution, and offshore installation

Proven track record in early-phase engineering (Screening, Conceptual, Pre-FEED)

Skills & Attributes :

Excellent command of English (spoken & written)

Strong leadership and communication skills

Comfortable working in cross-functional, multicultural environments

Agile, adaptable, and solution-oriented

Technical Tools :

Proficient in MS Office and industry-standard pipeline engineering software

Familiarity with relevant international engineering codes and specifications
