Job Description
The Vessel Foreman is responsible for supervising deck and operational activities onboard vessels, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and maritime regulations. The role acts as a link between vessel crew, supervisors, and shore management.
Requirements
- Supervise daily deck operations and work activities onboard the vessel
- Assign tasks to deck crew and monitor work progress
- Ensure all operations comply with safety standards, permits, and risk assessments
- Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safe working practices
- Coordinate with the Vessel Supervisor / Captain regarding daily operations
- Monitor cargo handling, lifting operations, mooring, and anchoring activities
- Inspect tools, equipment, and work areas for safety and readiness
- Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly
- Assist in vessel maintenance and housekeeping activities
- Ensure crew discipline and adherence to company and vessel rules
- Maintain daily work logs and activity reports
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / Technical Certificate in Marine, Mechanical, or related field (preferred)Minimum 3–7 years of experience in vessel or marine operationsPrior experience as a Deck Foreman, Bosun, or Senior Deckhand preferredValid STCW certification (Basic Safety, PPE, First Aid, Firefighting)
